“Color Pots” Glass Art at First Friday Art Walk

The University of South Alabama Baldwin County will show the art of the University of South Alabama Glass Program Coordinator, Rene Culler.  The show “Color Pots” will be on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Administration Building of the USA Baldwin County Campus, 10 North Summit Street, Fairhope, AL.  The focus of the work will be on colorful blown vases that are very textural, colorful, and reminiscent of the little core vessels that can be seen in the Egyptian displays of museums. “While, those were small enough to fit in the palm of one’s hand, my vessels are about 100 times larger and very bold.” Culler employs the use of color trailings on the surface of the glass. The applied colors are disturbed while hot and still semi-liquid by the use of a metal hook that festoons or feathers the color into a zig zag pattern.

Culler says she is very excited to have her work featured at the First Friday Art Walk in Fairhope.  Don’t miss out on Culler’s incredible glass art at USA Baldwin County, First Friday Art Walk on March 1, 2013, at 10 North Summit Street, Fairhope, AL.  The USA Jag Tran will be running to transport patrons to and from the Eastern Shore Art Center that evening.  Visit www.myusabc.com or call (251) 928-8133 for additional information.
