Criminal Justice Advisor Joins USABC
USA Baldwin County Welcomes New Criminal Justice Instructor
Jennifer Johnson joined The University of South Alabama in Baldwin County staff this month as a Criminal Justice Instructor and Advisor. Johnson earned an Associate Degree at the Clackamas Community College in Oregon, a Bachelor of Science degree in Multidisciplinary studies from Eastern Oregon University and a Master of Science degree in Justice Studies from Southern New Hampshire University.
Johnson hopes to enhance the current curriculum to add more diversity and courses to meet Baldwin County student needs while meshing it with the university and departmental vision. Her goal is to make the Criminal Justice program at the Fairhope campus into a self-sustaining program. “I applied for the job to help build a well-rounded program to meet the students future career goals” she said and added “I am open for the challenge and can envision how the program will not just benefit the university but can also impact the community as a whole.”
Johnson, her husband, and their four children moved to Pensacola, Florida from Kansas on July 3, 2011. Originally from Canby, Oregon, Johnson and her family moved around a lot over the years due to her husband’s military career. She developed a love for the criminal justice field at a young age, particularly working with juvenile offenders, while attending Clackamas Community College. She has held many positions over the years from working with Juveniles in the court system, Domestic Violence Victims, to being a Field Training Officer, Record Division, for the City of Federal Way in the state of Washington. Prior to her family’s move to Pensacola, Johnson served for three years as the Supervision Officer for the Department of Corrections for Johnson County in Kansas. “I feel like I can bring a professional and academic background to this program” Johnson said.
Johnson maintains office hours at USA Baldwin County in the Administration Building, 10 North Summit Street. Call to schedule an appointment at 251-928-8133 for Criminal Justice advising or to learn more about the degree. In addition, you can visit USABC on line at www.myusabc.com for more information.
